Ezan Miah, a 3.5-month-old infant, has been diagnosed with acute watery diarrhea accompanied by severe dehydration and scabies. The continuous loss of fluids through diarrhea and vomiting has significantly reduced his body’s hydration level, making him extremely weak and vulnerable. Severe dehydration in such a young child is a life-threatening condition, as it can quickly lead to organ failure, shock, and even death if not treated urgently. Additionally, scabies has caused persistent skin irritation, increasing the risk of further infection and discomfort, making immediate medical care essential to save his life.

Background
Ezan Miah is a gentle and innocent 3.5-month-old baby who depends entirely on his elderly grandparents for care and survival. His grandfather, Abdul High, is 80 years old and earns only 7,000 BDT per month working in a rickshaw garage, struggling to support the family, while his grandmother Rajia Begum, 70, cares for him in their fragile living conditions without a permanent home. Due to their extreme financial hardship, they are unable to afford proper medical treatment after Ezan became seriously ill with diarrhea, vomiting, and skin infection. Without timely treatment, his condition could worsen due to severe dehydration and infection, putting his life at serious risk. After learning about Helpster Charity through Masud Rana, the family is now seeking urgent support to save Ezan and ensure he receives the care he needs to survive and recover.
Medical history
Ezan, a 3.5-month-old infant, was admitted to Narayanganj Polyclinic on 14/03/2026 in a critical condition due to acute watery diarrhea with severe dehydration, along with scabies. He received immediate and comprehensive treatment, including intravenous fluids, ORS, zinc syrup, antibiotics, probiotics, and proper care for his skin condition, under close medical supervision. Throughout his hospital stay, his condition gradually improved, and he responded well to the treatment provided. He was successfully discharged on 18/03/2026 in stable condition with advice for continued care at home. Ezan’s grandparents expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Narayanganj Polyclinic, Helpster Charity, and all the volunteers for their kind support and for helping save the child’s life.
Prognosis
Doctors have advised NG feeding, proper hydration, supportive therapy, and close monitoring as essential treatment for Ezan’s condition. With timely and adequate care, his fluid balance can be restored, helping his body recover from dehydration and gradually regain strength. As treatment continues, his symptoms are expected to improve, allowing him to return to a stable and healthy state. However, if left untreated, severe dehydration can rapidly worsen, leading to shock, organ failure, and a high risk of death in such a young infant. Immediate and continuous medical care is therefore crucial to save his life and ensure a full recovery.
