Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

About eyes

ROP (Retinopathy of Prematurity) is a potentially blinding eye disorder that affects premature infants, where abnormal blood vessels grow in the retina. If not detected and treated early, the worst consequences can include retinal detachment, leading to permanent vision loss or blindness

Background

Bayezid Bepary, a quiet and fragile one-month-old baby, rests in the loving care of his mother Farjana Akter, while his father Md Sharif struggles to support the family through farming and day labor, earning only 6000 BDT per month. This small income must cover all their basic needs, leaving no means to afford the urgent medical treatment Bayezid now requires. Despite his early complications, Bayezid responds gently to his parents’ touch, bringing hope and strength to his family. However, without timely treatment for his eye condition, he may suffer permanent blindness, affecting his entire future and placing a lifelong burden on his parents. After learning about Helpster Charity through volunteer Al Amin and counselor Nasima Akhter, the family is seeking support to save their child’s vision and give him a chance at a normal life.

Medical history

Bayezid Bepary, a 1-month-old baby boy, was admitted for urgent management of Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) in both eyes, a condition that can lead to permanent vision loss if left untreated. After thorough evaluation, he received Anti-VEGF injection on 29.01.2026, administered by Dr. Md. Saiful Islam, the hospital’s ROP Specialist. The treatment process was carefully planned and executed, with close monitoring to ensure safety and effectiveness. During his stay, his response to the treatment was positive, showing encouraging signs of recovery. The abnormal growth of retinal blood vessels has now been successfully controlled. His retinal condition has improved significantly, and doctors are hopeful that he will develop clear vision in the future. He was discharged in stable condition with advice for regular follow-up, and heartfelt thanks go to Helpster Charity and Helpster Heroes for making this life-changing treatment possible.

Prognosis

According to Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain Sheikh and Dr. Md Saiful Islam, Bayezid urgently needs Avastin injection in both eyes under specialist supervision. The doctors believe that if treatment is given immediately, abnormal blood vessel growth can be stopped and retinal maturation can continue safely. Early treatment can preserve useful eyesight and allow Bayezid to grow with normal visual development. If left untreated, the retina may detach, resulting in severe visual disability or complete blindness. At such an early age, blindness would permanently change his life and place a lifelong burden on his already struggling family. The doctors strongly recommend immediate donor support so treatment can begin within the critical medical window. Timely intervention today can protect Bayezid’s vision for life.
