Shohag Halder, a gentle and humble 14-year-old boy, lives with his father Md Bodiuzzamal and elder brother Alamin in a fragile riverside shelter, where the family struggles to survive on his father’s irregular begging income of around 5,000 BDT per month. Despite these hardships, Shohag remains kind and hopeful, dreaming of playing freely and one day supporting his family, even as he suffers from increasing pain in his eye. His condition has worsened over time, making it difficult for him to see and carry out daily activities, yet the family has been unable to afford treatment due to extreme poverty. Without urgent surgery, the growth in his eye may lead to permanent vision loss and further complications, taking away his chance at a normal life. The family learned about Helpster Charity through Nasima Akter, a hospital counselor, and Md Alamin, a volunteer, and they are now seeking support to save Shohag’s eyesight and future.

Sohag Halder, a 14-year-old boy, required excision of a granuloma in his left eye because the growth was causing discomfort and interfering with his vision. The surgery was performed under local anesthesia on 22.02.2026 by Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain Sk, Chief Consultant of the Hospital, ensuring a safe and precise procedure. Throughout the treatment, he remained stable, and the surgical process went smoothly without complications. After the operation, his eye healed well under regular medical supervision. He gradually became more comfortable, and the irritation he had been experiencing was relieved. His visual acuity improved significantly, allowing him to see clearly again. According to Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain Sheikh, Chief Consultant, and Dr. Md. Rashedur Rahman, Senior Consultant at Mazharul Haque BNSB Eye Hospital, Shohag urgently requires excision surgery in his left eye followed by regular medical follow-up. The doctors believe that timely surgery can successfully remove the granuloma, stop further complications, relieve pain, and restore healthy eye function. This treatment will allow Shohag to regain comfort, improve vision, and return to normal daily life, including education and physical activity. If the surgery is delayed, the granuloma may enlarge further, leading to chronic inflammation, recurrent infection, severe visual impairment, and possible permanent loss of sight in the affected eye. The doctors have emphasized that immediate intervention offers an excellent chance for recovery, but postponement increases long-term danger significantly. With successful surgery, Shohag can once again play football, continue learning, and dream of building a better future beyond poverty.
