Adiba Islam, a one-month-old baby, lives with her parents Rabbi Kazi and Asma Akter, and her elder sister Humayra in a low-income rural household in Chandpur. Her father is the only earning member, working as a farmer and day laborer with a monthly income of around 6,000 BDT, which is barely enough to cover basic food and living expenses, leaving no savings for medical treatment. Adiba has been diagnosed with a serious eye condition and urgently needs treatment to protect her vision, but the cost is beyond what her family can afford. Without timely care, she may suffer permanent vision loss and grow up unable to see her family or live a normal life. The family learned about Helpster Charity through Nasima Akhter, a counselor at Mazharul Haque BNSB Eye Hospital, and Md Al Amin, a Helpster volunteer in Chandpur, and they are now seeking support to save their child’s eyesight.

Adiba Islam, a 1-month-old baby girl, was admitted for urgent management of Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) in both eyes, a condition that can lead to permanent vision loss if left untreated. After thorough evaluation, she received Anti-VEGF injection on 05.03.2026, administered by Dr. Md. Saiful Islam, the hospital’s ROP Specialist. The treatment process was carefully planned and executed, with close monitoring to ensure safety and effectiveness. During her stay, her response to the treatment was positive, showing encouraging signs of recovery. The abnormal growth of retinal blood vessels has now been successfully controlled. Her retinal condition has improved significantly, and doctors are hopeful that he will develop clear vision in the future. She was discharged in stable condition with advice for regular follow-up, and heartfelt thanks go to Helpster Charity and Helpster Heroes for making this life-changing treatment possible.

According to Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain Sheikh and Dr. Md Saiful Islam, Adiba urgently needs Avastin injection in both eyes under specialist supervision. The doctors believe that timely treatment can stop abnormal retinal vessel growth and preserve useful eyesight, giving her a strong chance for normal visual development. Without treatment, the disease may progress silently and permanently damage the retina, causing severe visual disability or complete blindness. At such a young age, this would affect every stage of her development, including education, confidence, and independence. The doctors strongly recommend urgent donor support so treatment can begin within the critical therapeutic window and save Adiba’s sight while recovery remains possible within 07 days.
