Saifa Islam, a two-month-old baby, rests quietly in her mother Shahnaz Begum’s arms, responding softly to her voice, while her father Md Saiful Islam struggles to provide for the family with a monthly income of only 8,000 BDT from his work at a tailor shop. As the sole earner, his income barely covers food and basic living expenses, leaving no possibility of saving for medical treatment. After thorough evaluation, she received Anti-VEGF injection on 19.02.2026, administered by Dr. Md. Saiful Islam, the hospital’s ROP Specialist. The treatment process was carefully planned and executed, with close monitoring to ensure safety and effectiveness. During her stay, her response to the treatment was positive, showing encouraging signs of recovery. The abnormal growth of retinal blood vessels has now been successfully controlled. Her retinal condition has improved significantly, and doctors are hopeful that he will develop clear vision in the future. According to Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain Sheikh and Dr. Md Saiful Islam, Saifa urgently requires Avastin injection in both eyes under specialist supervision. The doctors believe that timely anti-VEGF treatment can stop abnormal retinal vessel growth and significantly improve the chance of preserving useful eyesight. If treated now, Saifa may still achieve much better visual development. If treatment is delayed, retinal damage may become irreversible and lead to severe visual impairment or total blindness. At such a young age, blindness would permanently affect her future education, mobility, and quality of life.
