Mehedi Hasan, a one-month-old baby, lives with his parents, grandparents, and extended family in a small and crowded household where daily life is shaped by financial hardship. His father, Al Amin, is the main earning member, working as a day laborer with a monthly income of around 7,500 BDT, which is not enough to support the large family, leaving no ability to pay for medical treatment. Mehedi was born prematurely and later diagnosed with a serious eye condition affecting both eyes, requiring urgent treatment to protect his vision. He is a calm and gentle baby, and his family dreams of seeing him grow up healthy and able to see the world around him. Without timely treatment, he may suffer permanent vision loss, which would affect his entire future and place an even greater burden on the family; they learned about Helpster Charity through Nasima Akhter, a counselor at Mazharul Haque BNSB Eye Hospital, and Md Al Amin, a local volunteer, and are now seeking support to save his eyesight.

Mehedi Hasan, a 1-month-old baby boy, was admitted for urgent management of Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) in both eyes, a condition that can lead to permanent vision loss if left untreated. After thorough evaluation, he received Anti-VEGF injection on 18.12.2025, administered by Dr. Md. Saiful Islam, the hospital’s ROP Specialist. The treatment process was carefully planned and executed, with close monitoring to ensure safety and effectiveness. During his stay, his response to the treatment was positive, showing encouraging signs of recovery. The abnormal growth of retinal blood vessels has now been successfully controlled. His retinal condition has improved significantly, and doctors are hopeful that he will develop clear vision in the future. He was discharged in stable condition with advice for regular follow-up, and heartfelt thanks go to Helpster Charity and Helpster Heroes for making this life-changing treatment possible.

According to Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain Sheikh and Dr. Md Saiful Islam, Mehedi urgently requires Avastin injection in both eyes under specialist supervision. The doctors believe that early anti-VEGF treatment can stop abnormal retinal vessel growth and greatly improve the chance of preserving useful eyesight during this critical stage of development. If treatment is delayed, retinal damage may become permanent, leading to severe visual impairment or total blindness. At his age, blindness would deeply affect his future education, mobility, and social development, while placing long-term emotional and financial pressure on the family. The doctors strongly recommend urgent donor support so treatment can begin within the narrow therapeutic window while recovery remains possible.
