Abdur Rahman, a one-month-old baby, lives with his parents Emran Hossain and Anika Anjuma, along with his grandparents, in a small rural home where the family struggles to survive on his father’s monthly income of around 8,000 BDT. As the only earning member, his father’s limited income is barely enough to provide food and basic needs for the entire family, leaving no savings for medical treatment. Abdur Rahman is a calm and gentle baby who finds comfort in his mother’s arms, and his family dreams of seeing him grow up healthy and able to see the world. He has been diagnosed with a serious eye condition in both eyes that requires urgent treatment to prevent damage. Without timely care, he may lose his vision permanently, which would affect his entire future and deepen the hardship of his already struggling family; they learned about Helpster Charity through Nasima Akhter, a hospital counselor, and Md Al Amin, a local volunteer, and are now seeking support to save his eyesight.

Abdur Rahman, a 1-month-old baby boy, was admitted for urgent management of Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) in both eyes, a condition that can lead to permanent vision loss if left untreated. After thorough evaluation, he received Anti-VEGF injection on 05.03.2026, administered by Dr. Md. Saiful Islam, the hospital’s ROP Specialist. The treatment process was carefully planned and executed, with close monitoring to ensure safety and effectiveness. During his stay, his response to the treatment was positive, showing encouraging signs of recovery. The abnormal growth of retinal blood vessels has now been successfully controlled. His retinal condition has improved significantly, and doctors are hopeful that he will develop clear vision in the future. He was discharged in stable condition with advice for regular follow-up, and heartfelt thanks go to Helpster Charity and Helpster Heroes for making this life-changing treatment possible.

According to Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain Sheikh and Dr. Md Saiful Islam, Abdur Rahman urgently requires Avastin injection in both eyes under specialist supervision. The doctors believe that if treatment is given immediately, abnormal retinal vessel growth can be controlled and useful eyesight may be preserved. Timely intervention offers strong hope that he can continue normal visual development. However, if treatment is delayed, retinal damage may become permanent and may lead to blindness. Blindness at this stage of life would create long-term challenges for education, daily functioning, and future livelihood, while also increasing the burden on his already poor family. The doctors strongly recommend urgent donor support because treatment must begin within the critical treatment window.
