Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

Oluwaseun is an 8-year-old boy who really enjoys reading. He's the oldest child in a family of four. A year ago, he started having swelling in his scrotum that comes and goes and sometimes hurts. The doctors found out he has a condition called right hydrocele.

Medical history

Oluwaseun underwent hydrocelectomy surgery to treat a hydrocele. The surgery was successful with a good prognosis, and he has since returned home to live a better life.

Prognosis

The persistent presence of a hydrocele can cause ongoing discomfort, heaviness, or a feeling of fullness in the scrotum. Although hydroceles are not typically associated with infections, untreated ones may become prone to infections, which can result in pain and complications. Larger hydroceles can interfere with activities like walking or participating in sports due to the added weight and size of the swollen scrotum. Surgical removal of the hydrocele sac is the most effective and permanent treatment for hydrocele. It is typically performed as an outpatient procedure under local or general anesthesia. The surgeon makes a small incision in the scrotum, drains the fluid, and removes the sac.
