Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?
When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background
Abdur Rahman is a polite and intelligent 10-year-old boy who studies at a madrasa and dreams of becoming a Mufti, living with his father Sanowar Alom, a rickshaw puller, his mother Rehana Begum, his younger brother, and his elderly grandfather in fragile living conditions without a permanent home. The family survives on a very limited income of only 6,000 taka per month, which is barely enough for daily needs, making it impossible for them to afford proper medical treatment. When Abdur Rahman became seriously ill with vomiting, diarrhea, fever, and abdominal pain, his condition worsened due to lack of proper care at the government hospital, and he was later referred to a Helpster partner hospital. The family learned about Helpster Charity through a leaflet and hospital staff, giving them a chance to seek help. Without timely treatment, his condition could lead to severe dehydration and serious complications, putting his life at significant risk.
Medical history
Abdur Rahman was admitted on 12.03.2026 with a diagnosis of acute watery diarrhoea with gastroenteritis. Upon admission, he received intravenous fluids, medications, and supportive care to correct dehydration and manage his symptoms. He remained under close observation, with regular monitoring of his vital signs and overall condition. Gradually, his symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhoea, fever, and weakness improved with proper medical management and nursing care. His strength and appetite also returned over the course of treatment. He made a good recovery and was discharged on 16.03.2026 in a stable and secure condition, with advice for continued care at home.
Prognosis
The doctor has recommended immediate hospital admission for Abdur Rahman so that he can receive proper antibiotics, infusion, and other supportive care. With timely treatment, his fluid levels can be restored, his weakness will improve, and he will have a strong chance of making a full recovery. Supportive therapy will help his body regain strength and prevent further complications. However, if he is left untreated, his dehydration may worsen rapidly, leading to severe dehydration, electrolyte imbalances, intestinal damage, and kidney failure. This condition could become life-threatening for such a young child.
