He was born healthy and experienced normal growth and development during his early years. However, over time, a swelling developed on his neck, which gradually became more noticeable. Concerned about this, his family sought medical evaluation, and an X-ray was performed. The findings suggested a thyroid-related condition that may require thyroidectomy for appropriate management.

The child was admitted with a thyroid isthmus goiter, an enlargement of the central part of the thyroid gland located in the front of the neck. To treat the condition, surgeons performed a thyroid isthmectomy, a procedure to remove the enlarged thyroid isthmus. The operation was carried out under general anesthesia through a small transverse neck incision. During surgery, the thyroid tissue was carefully exposed, separated from surrounding structures, removed, and the wound was closed successfully. Following the procedure, the child was closely monitored, received postoperative medications, and the removed tissue was sent for laboratory analysis (histology). Recovery was smooth, with no reported complications. By discharge, the child was in stable condition, able to swallow normally, and showed good postoperative progress. The surgery successfully removed the enlarged thyroid tissue and is expected to relieve the neck swelling and prevent further complications associated with the goiter.

Doctors expect that with timely treatment through a Thyroidectomy, Adamson will have a significant improvement in his health and overall quality of life. The surgery will remove the swelling, relieving pressure on his airway and food passage, allowing him to breathe and swallow normally. After recovery, he is likely to return to his daily activities, including school and playing football. Although he may require lifelong medication to regulate thyroid hormone levels, this can be well managed with regular medical follow-up, enabling him to live a normal and productive life. If left untreated, the neck swelling may continue to grow and lead to serious complications. These include increasing difficulty in breathing due to pressure on the windpipe, challenges in swallowing, persistent discomfort, and risk of infection. In severe cases, the condition can become life-threatening if the airway becomes significantly obstructed. Delaying treatment may therefore greatly affect his health, daily functioning, and future well-being.
