Rishika Tabassum is a kind and hopeful 7-year-old girl who dreams of becoming a pilot, but her family struggles to meet even their basic needs. Her father earns a small income as a betel leaf seller, and with several children to care for—some of whom also have health problems—the family cannot afford her medical treatment. They live in a damaged part of her uncle’s house, facing daily hardship and uncertainty. Despite her suffering, Tabassum remains patient and strong, but her condition is worsening, making it difficult for her to eat, sleep, and breathe properly. Without timely treatment, her illness could become life-threatening. The family came to know about Helpster Charity through a local volunteer, Ahammod Ali Azad, and is now seeking support in the hope of saving their daughter’s life and future.

Rishika Tabassum, a 7-year-old female child, was admitted to Orion Hospital on 24.04.2026 through Helpster volunteer Abu Sayeed with complaints of severe throat pain associated with painful swallowing, progressively worsening high-grade intermittent fever, marked difficulty in swallowing leading to reduced oral intake, persistent nasal obstruction, mouth breathing, disturbed sleep, loud snoring with breathing difficulty, nasal voice, and difficulty breathing through the nose, more pronounced on one side. After proper clinical examination and necessary investigations, she was diagnosed with Acute Exacerbation of Chronic Adenotonsillitis with Adenoid Hypertrophy associated with Deviated Nasal Septum (DNS). Immediate hospitalization and stabilization were provided, followed by planning for definitive surgical management through Adenotonsillectomy with Septoplasty (if significant DNS) under General Anesthesia (GA). During hospitalization, she received supportive treatment, monitoring, medications, and pre-operative care to improve her condition. She remained hospitalized for four days and was discharged on 28.04.2026 in stable condition with medications, advice, and follow-up instructions for further management and recovery. The treatment expenses were fully supported by Helpster Charity, and the family expresses sincere gratitude to Helpster, its volunteers, and the hospital team for their kind support and care.

The doctors have recommended definitive surgical treatment through adenotonsillectomy with septoplasty, which is expected to significantly improve Tabassum’s quality of life. After the surgery, her breathing will become normal, her throat pain will resolve, and she will be able to eat, sleep, and grow properly like a healthy child. The procedure will also prevent repeated infections and reduce the risk of long-term complications. However, if left untreated, her condition may worsen, leading to severe breathing obstruction, frequent infections, poor nutrition, and delayed growth. In the worst case, the airway blockage and ongoing complications could become life-threatening, making timely surgery essential for her recovery and future well-being.
