Md. Toha is a polite and hardworking 14-year-old boy who dreams of continuing his studies and supporting his family, but a tragic fall from a coconut tree has left him with a serious ankle fracture, making him unable to walk. His father, Md. Mizan Khan, earns only around 8,000 BDT per month as an easy bike driver, which is barely enough to support the family of five, making it impossible to afford the costly treatment he now urgently needs. As the pain and swelling in his leg continue to worsen, Toha’s condition is becoming more serious with each passing day. Without proper and timely treatment, he risks permanent damage to his ankle, which could leave him unable to walk normally for the rest of his life. After learning about Helpster Charity through volunteers Anowar Hossain Anu and Meghlal Roy, the family now holds onto hope for a chance to restore their son’s future.

Md. Toha was admitted to the hospital on 16.03.2026 with a serious ankle injury, where doctors quickly evaluated his condition and prepared him for surgery on the same day. He underwent a successful operation (ORIF of the talus fracture with a titanium Herbert screw) and received proper post-operative care, including medication, monitoring, and guidance for recovery. After staying in the hospital for 8 days, his condition gradually improved, and he was discharged on 24.03.2026 in stable condition with advice for follow-up and rehabilitation. Md. Toha and his family express their heartfelt gratitude to Helpster Charity and its dedicated volunteers, especially Anowar Hossain Anu and Meghlal Roy, for their timely support and assistance. They are also deeply thankful to the hospital and medical team for their care, compassion, and efforts in helping Toha recover and regain hope for a healthy future.

According to the doctors, Md. Toha requires surgery known as ORIF (Open Reduction and Internal Fixation) of the talus using a titanium Herbert screw under spinal anesthesia (SAB) to properly align and stabilize the broken bone. With timely surgery and proper rehabilitation, the bone is expected to heal correctly, allowing him to walk normally again and return to his daily activities and studies. This treatment will help reduce pain, restore movement, and prevent long-term damage to his ankle joint. However, if left untreated, the fracture may heal improperly, leading to permanent disability, chronic pain, and severe difficulty in walking. In serious cases, it can also lead to avascular necrosis (bone death due to loss of blood supply), which is a life-threatening condition and may result in permanent damage or loss of the affected limb.
