Safwan Islam is a 5-month-old baby boy and the beloved first child of Ashraful Islam and Khairun Nesa Lima, bringing immense joy to their family despite his fragile health. From birth, he has been suffering from a serious kidney problem that later led to a severe infection, and although his parents first sought help at several government hospitals, proper treatment remained out of reach due to limited facilities and long delays. His father, a grocery shop salesman earning only around 7000 BDT per month, has struggled to cover the rising medical costs, making it impossible to continue consistent care. Safwan’s condition has now worsened, with very low urine output, infection in his urine, breathing difficulty, and a dangerous spread of infection in his body, putting his life at serious risk without urgent treatment. During this difficult time, the family learned about Helpster Charity through a hospital and a volunteer, giving them hope that their child might finally receive the care he urgently needs.

Safwan Islam was admitted to Olympus Hospital on 25.03.2026 in a critical condition, where he received immediate and intensive treatment, including ventilator support in the PICU under close supervision of doctors. The medical team provided continuous care and did everything possible to stabilize his condition, while Helpster Charity and its volunteers extended timely support to ensure he could access this urgent treatment. Despite all medical efforts and the unwavering support from the hospital and caregivers, Safwan sadly passed away on 26.03.2026. His family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to Helpster Charity, its compassionate volunteers, and the hospital team for standing beside them during such a difficult time. They remain deeply thankful for the care, kindness, and hope given to their child in his final moments.

According to the doctors, Safwan urgently requires strong antibiotics and supportive treatment to control the severe infection in his body, along with close monitoring and possible care in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). Once his condition stabilizes, further treatment will be needed to manage the complications from the nephrostomy, followed by a corrective surgery (pyeloplasty) to address the underlying kidney problem. If these treatments are carried out in time, Safwan has a good chance of recovery and can gradually return to a healthier and more normal life. However, if left untreated, the infection may continue to spread, leading to organ failure and life-threatening complications. Delay in proper care could significantly reduce his chances of survival and long-term well-being.
