Aaliyah does not make friends easily and is very uncomfortable in the presence of strangers. She however likes to play with her friends and together with her friends, they like dressing their dolls with different fashion-like clothes. She fell ill a few days ago; was vomiting anything she ate and she also had a fever. By the time she was being brought to the hospital, she was very weak.

Aaliyah Nyambura was brought to the hospital with complaints of persistent fever, chills, general body weakness, and poor appetite. She had been unwell for several days, with worsening fatigue and refusal to feed. On clinical evaluation, she was found to be febrile, tachycardic, and hypotensive, raising concern for systemic infection. Laboratory investigations confirmed the diagnosis of sepsis. Immediate management included initiation of intravenous fluids to address dehydration and hypotension, alongside broad-spectrum intravenous antibiotics to combat the infection. Supportive care was also provided to stabilize her vital signs. After a 7-day course of antibiotic therapy and continuous monitoring, Aaliyah showed marked improvement. Her fever subsided, appetite returned, and her vital signs stabilized. By the end of her treatment, she had fully recovered and was discharged home in good health

The inflammatory response can damage organs, leading to their dysfunction or failure. Septicaemia is a leading cause of death, particularly if not promptly treated. Survivors may experience long-term physical, emotional, and cognitive effects. Broad-spectrum antibiotics are administered through an intravenous (IV) line to target and combat the underlying infection.
