Arifa Akter Sumi is a cheerful and kind 7-year-old girl who dreams of helping her father one day, but her life is shaped by poverty as she lives with her parents and little sister in a crowded camp with poor sanitation and limited access to safe water. Her father earns only 6,000 BDT per month as a day laborer, which is not enough to support the family or cover her medical treatment, especially during a seasonal outbreak where many children are falling ill. Despite visiting a government hospital, lack of proper facilities and medicines left her condition untreated, and her illness continued to worsen. As her fever, weakness, and other symptoms increased, her health became more serious, and without timely treatment, typhoid can become life-threatening and severely affect her future. After learning about Helpster through community outreach, her family now holds onto hope to save their beloved daughter and see her recover.

Arifa was admitted on 18.03.2026 with a diagnosis of typhoid fever. Upon admission, she was kept under close observation, and a comprehensive treatment plan was initiated. She received appropriate intravenous fluids to correct dehydration, along with antibiotics to treat the infection. Supportive care, including proper nutrition, monitoring of vital signs, and nursing care, was provided to ensure her stability and recovery. During her hospital stay, her condition gradually improved. Her fever subsided, her appetite returned, and her overall strength increased. Continuous medical management and attentive nursing care played a vital role in her recovery. By 22.03.2026, Arifa had made a significant recovery and was in a stable and secure condition. She was safely discharged with advice for follow-up care and proper nutrition at home.

According to the doctors, Arifa requires immediate treatment with parenteral (injectable) antibiotics along with supportive care to control the infection and restore her strength. With proper and timely treatment, she is expected to recover fully and return to her normal life, including her studies and daily activities. This treatment will help clear the infection, improve her nutrition, and prevent further complications. However, if left untreated, typhoid fever can become severe, leading to dehydration, intestinal complications, and damage to vital organs. In serious cases, it may become life-threatening and have long-term effects on her health and growth.
