Severe malaria often progresses to life-threatening complications like cerebral malaria, respiratory distress, and multi-organ failure because the parasite causes widespread inflammation and clogs vital blood vessels. Acute enteritis is the sudden inflammation of the small intestine, most commonly caused by consuming food or water contaminated with bacteria, viruses, or parasites. Severe malaria with acute enteritis is a life-threatening condition characterized by high fever, chills, vomiting, and diarrhea. It is commonly caused by Plasmodium falciparum infection alongside gastrointestinal inflammation.

Background
Suleiman is a 12 year old male child, he attends his secondary school in the city of Bauchi. He wishes to be a naval officer when he grows because he has passion for protecting lives and properties in his country. Slueiman has 2 other siblings. The mother is a single wife who finds it very difficult to take care of the children as the father has abandoned the family entirely. They are financially incapable of feeding, medication and most times children's school fees. They live in 2 rooms apartment being inherited by her parents, they use well water, pit latrine, and have no access to electricity. Suleiman, a 12-year-old male child was well until two days ago when he woke up from sleep at night and started vomiting. He also complained of headache and abdominal pain. He has been coughing productive of whitish sputum. On examination, a young male teenager, febrile (38.3o C), anicteric, acyanosed, palor, Tachypneic, no organ swelling, not jaundiced. He was diagnosed with severe Malaria and Acute Enteritis.
Medical history
Suleiman, a 12-year-old male child was well until two days ago when he woke up from sleep at night and started vomiting. He also complained of headache and abdominal pain. He has been coughing productive of whitish sputum. On examination, a young male teenager, febrile (38.3o C), unicteric, acyanosed, palor, Tachypneic, no organ swelling He was diagnosed with severe Malaria and Acute Enteritis. Treatment commenced with injection antimalarials, injection antibiotics and other supportive care, he was properly monitored until fully recovered, no more symptoms of malaria and enteritis, he was discharged after 4 days of hospital stay and was given some oral medications and asked to return for follow up after 1 week. The mother is happy and appreciated Helpster Charity team for the medical support.
Prognosis
Suleiman is having both severe malaria and acute enteritis, which made him very sick. He was urgently admitted for medical treatment. Delayed intervention may lead to complications like severe dehydration, shock, anemia, or organ dysfunction, increasing the risk of morbidity and mortality. \With timely use of intravenous antimalarials, adequate rehydration, and supportive care, prognosis/outcomes are generally favorable.
