Maria is a one-year-old child living with her mother and grandmother in a one-room mud-walled house without electricity. The family relies on small-scale farming, using produce from their kitchen garden to sustain themselves, which provides only minimal income. Maria had been unwell for nearly three days. On the night she was rushed to the hospital, she developed episodes of convulsions accompanied by a very high fever. In distress, her mother sought help from a neighbor at around 1:00 AM, hoping to get medication to reduce the fever. Upon seeing the child’s condition, the neighbor immediately recognized the severity and advised that Maria required urgent medical attention. Although the mother expressed concern about lack of funds for treatment, the neighbors informed her about Helpster Charity, which supports patients in need at the facility. With urgency, they arranged for a motorcycle rider to transport Maria and her mother to the health facility that same night for immediate care.

MARIA WAS DIAGNOSED WITH MALARIA AND PNEUMONIA, WAS THEN TREATED WITH ANTI-MALARIALS, ANTIBIOTICS, ANTIPYRETICS AND OTHER DRUGS AS PER MEDICAL REPORT. SHE RESPONDED SO WELL TO CARE AND MANAGEMENT SHE WAS GIVEN AND STABILIZED. ON THE FIFTH DAY SHE REPORTED AND SHOWED GREAT IMPROVEMENT MAKING HER BE DISCHARGED HOME ON ORAL MEDICATIONS TO CONTINUE WITH AT HOME.

Maria presented with malaria complicated by febrile convulsions, as evidenced by high fever and seizure episodes. Given her young age and the severity of symptoms, this was a medical emergency requiring immediate intervention. She was promptly managed with antimalarial treatment, anticonvulsant medication to control seizures, and supportive care, including temperature control and close monitoring of vital signs. The prognosis for malaria is generally excellent since the disease is diagnosed early and treated with appropriate antimalarial medications.
