Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?
When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

About pulmonology
Severe pneumonia is a serious infection of the lungs in which the air sacs become inflamed and filled with fluid or pus, leading to symptoms such as high fever, persistent cough, fast or difficult breathing, chest discomfort, and general weakness. In children, severe pneumonia can significantly affect oxygen exchange and overall body function, making it a potentially life-threatening condition that requires prompt medical attention and close monitoring.

Background
Agneta is a two-year-old girl and the third-born in her family. She lives with her young single mother, who is currently in school under sponsorship. Her father, a jua kali worker, abandoned the family shortly after her birth, leaving the mother solely responsible for providing for her children. The mother balances school with casual work such as washing clothes on weekends, often leaving the children in the care of neighbors. Agneta had been in good health until she suddenly developed fever accompanied by an episode of convulsions, as reported by her mother. Her condition persisted, prompting her to be rushed to the health facility at night. On arrival, she appeared weak, ill, and had a high temperature. Laboratory tests were conducted, confirming a diagnosis of pneumonia, which required urgent admission to the children’s ward. Due to financial constraints, her mother initially declined admission, but given the severity of the illness, the medical team advised against discharge. They were then introduced to Helpster Charity Organization, which stepped in to support her treatment, allowing for her admission and appropriate care.
Medical history
Agneta was brought to the facility when sick looking and weak. She was tested and confirmed diagnosed with pneumonia which required argent admission in the children's ward She was administered by drugs, IV ceftriaxone, PO promethazine, PO paracetamol, per- rectal suppository, syrup erythromycin, syrup piriton. She responded to treatment so well and was ready to go home on discharge under syrup azithromycin and syrup piriton. The mother was advised on drug adherence and follow up after two weeks.
Prognosis
Agneta presented with pneumonia complicated by febrile convulsions, as evidenced by high fever, seizures, weakness, and respiratory symptoms. At her age, this is a serious and potentially life-threatening condition that requires urgent inpatient care. She was appropriately admitted and started on antibiotic therapy, anticonvulsants to control seizures, fever management, and supportive care, including close monitoring of her vital signs and neurological status. Agneta’s prognosis is good with timely and appropriate treatment. Most children recover well from pneumonia and febrile convulsions when managed early. With continued care, proper nutrition, and follow-up, she is expected to regain full strength
