Austine O., 13

Austine is a 13-year-old boy who is focused and hardworking. He enjoys playing football and dreams of becoming a teacher. He lives with his parents and siblings in a one-room mud-walled house without electricity. Both of his parents rely on casual jobs to support the family, as they do not have stable sources of income. Austine had been experiencing headache, fever, and general body pains for two days before visiting the hospital. His mother initially did not give him any medication, assuming the symptoms were mild and would resolve on their own. However, on the day he was brought to the facility, his condition worsened, with shivering and repeated vomiting. Due to lack of transport fare, they began walking to the hospital but were assisted along the way by a church member who offered them a motorcycle ride. Upon arrival at the facility, a staff member informed the mother about Helpster Charity, through which they were able to seek support for his treatment.

AUSTINE WAS MANAGED WITH ANTIPYRETICS, ANTIBIOTICS, ANTIMALARIALS AND OTHER DRUGS AS PER MEDICAL REPORT. HIS CONDITION IMPROVED BETTER AND WAS ABLE TO GO HOME MAKING US DISCHARGE HIM ON ORAL MEDICATIONS TO CONTINUE AT HOME.

Austine presented with severe malaria complicated by septicaemia, shown by fever, shivering, vomiting, and weakness. This was a serious condition requiring urgent admission. He was started on intravenous antimalarials, antibiotics, fluids, and supportive care with close monitoring. His prognosis is guarded but favorable with timely treatment. With continued care, proper nutrition, and follow-up, he is expected to recover well and return to normal activities.
