Maymuna Akter, a 14-year-old girl, lives with her parents and younger siblings in a fragile part of her uncle’s house, where her father’s small income as a mosque helper is not enough to meet daily needs, making treatment unaffordable. She is a resilient and hopeful girl who dreams of becoming a teacher, but her illness has made her weak, unable to eat properly, and disturbed her sleep. She developed severe throat pain, fever, and breathing difficulty, and was diagnosed with acute exacerbation of chronic adenotonsillitis with adenoid hypertrophy and DNS. Her parents and siblings are deeply worried but feel helpless due to their financial hardship. They learned about Helpster Charity through social worker Md. Mizanur Rahman and sought help, as without timely treatment, her condition may worsen, leading to severe infection, breathing obstruction, and life-threatening complications.

Maymuna Akter, a 14-year-old girl, was admitted to Orion Hospital on 24.04.2026 through Helpster volunteer Ahammod Ali Azad with complaints of severe throat pain associated with painful swallowing, progressively worsening high-grade intermittent fever, marked difficulty in swallowing leading to reduced oral intake, persistent nasal obstruction, mouth breathing, disturbed sleep, loud snoring, nasal voice, and breathing difficulty through the nose. Upon admission, detailed clinical assessment and necessary laboratory investigations were conducted. She was diagnosed with Acute Exacerbation of Chronic Adenotonsillitis with Adenoid Hypertrophy. After stabilization and confirmation of the diagnosis, a treatment plan was made for definitive surgical management with Adenotonsillectomy under General Anesthesia, along with Septoplasty if significant deviated nasal septum was identified. The patient remained hospitalized for four days, receiving appropriate medical care, monitoring, and pre-operative management. She was discharged on 28.04.2026 in stable condition with medications, advice, and follow-up instructions. The treatment expenses were fully supported by Helpster Charity, and the family expresses sincere gratitude to Helpster, its volunteers, and the hospital team for their kind support and care.

The doctors have recommended definitive surgical treatment through Adenotonsillectomy, which is expected to significantly improve Maymuna’s quality of life. After the surgery, her breathing will become normal, her throat pain will resolve, and she will be able to eat, sleep, and grow properly like a healthy child. The procedure will also prevent repeated infections and reduce the risk of long-term complications. However, if left untreated, her condition may worsen, leading to severe breathing obstruction, frequent infections, poor nutrition, and delayed growth. In the worst case, the airway blockage and ongoing complications could become life-threatening, making timely surgery essential for her recovery and future well-being.
