Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

Adnan Hosen is a gentle and playful 3-year-5-month-old boy living in Geneva Camp with his parents and grandmother in very limited conditions. His father earns only about 7,500 BDT per month working at a grocery shop, which barely covers daily needs, making it impossible for the family to afford proper medical treatment. When Adnan’s fever continued for a month and worsened with chills, body pain, and swelling in his neck, he became very weak and lethargic, forcing the family to seek urgent care. They came to know about Helpster Charity through a medical outreach camp in their community and reached out for support. Without timely treatment, his condition could become life-threatening, leading to severe infection and complications, making immediate care essential for his recovery.

Medical history

The patient Adnan Hosen, aged 3 years 5 months, was admitted to Al-Manar Hospital on 07/04/2026 with the diagnosis of Enteric Fever after suffering from prolonged fever, weakness, body pain, abdominal pain, and neck swelling. He remained admitted for 7 days and received conservative treatment, supportive care, antibiotics, and necessary investigations under close medical supervision. During his stay, his condition gradually improved with treatment and observation. He was discharged on 14/04/2026 with medicines, follow-up advice, and recommendations for further tests to monitor his recovery. Adnan and his family are sincerely grateful to Helpster Charity for the support that helped him receive treatment during this difficult time.

Prognosis

The doctor explained that with timely treatment using parenteral antibiotics and supportive care, Adnan’s infection can be effectively controlled, leading to gradual recovery and a return to normal health. Proper treatment will reduce the fever, improve his strength, and prevent the spread of infection to other parts of the body. Continuous monitoring will also help ensure that any complications are detected early and managed promptly. However, if left untreated, enteric fever can become severe and lead to life-threatening complications such as intestinal damage, widespread infection, and extreme weakness. This could significantly affect his overall health and may become fatal. Therefore, early and complete treatment is essential to ensure his safe recovery and future well-being.
