Fatiha Akter has been diagnosed with bronchopneumonia along with nutritional anemia, making her condition serious for her age. Bronchopneumonia is a lung infection that causes cough, fever, breathing difficulty, and low oxygen levels, which can worsen quickly in young children. At the same time, nutritional anemia means her body lacks enough healthy blood, leading to weakness and reduced ability to fight infection. Together, these conditions make her more vulnerable and require urgent medical care and close monitoring.

Background
Fatiha Akter is a sweet and innocent 1 year 4 months old baby living with her parents and extended family in a small rented shelter in Geneva Camp, where life is full of hardship. Her father, Farhad Hossain, earns only around 8,500 BDT per month as a day laborer, which is not enough to support six family members or afford medical treatment. Despite her young age, Fatiha is a beloved child who brings joy to her family, but her illness has made her weak and unable to feed properly. The family learned about Helpster Charity through a medical outreach camp, which gave them hope during this difficult time. Without timely treatment, her bronchopneumonia could become life-threatening, leading to severe breathing failure, worsening infection, and serious risk to her life.
Medical history
Fatiha Akter, aged 1 year 4 months, was admitted to Al-Manar Hospital Ltd. on 07 April 2026 with bronchopneumonia with nutritional anemia. Before admission, she had fever, cough, cold, runny nose, rash, poor feeding, breathing difficulty, and weakness for about 7 days. On hospital examination, she had bilateral chest crepitations and low oxygen saturation (SpO₂ 90% in room air), showing a serious chest infection. She was treated with oxygen therapy, injectable antibiotics, nebulization, and close monitoring, and after improvement she was discharged on 15 April 2026 with medicines, nutrition advice, and follow-up instructions. Her family expressed gratitude to Helpster Charity and donors for supporting her treatment and recovery.
Prognosis
With timely hospitalization, antibiotic therapy, nebulization, and supportive care, Fatiha has a strong chance of recovery. These treatments will help clear the lung infection, improve her breathing, and restore her oxygen levels, while nutritional support will gradually improve her strength and immunity. Close monitoring will ensure early detection of any complications and support her return to normal growth and development. However, if left untreated, her condition could quickly become life-threatening. The lung infection may worsen, leading to severe breathing failure, very low oxygen levels, and spread of infection in the body. Combined with anemia, her body may not be able to fight the illness, putting her at serious risk of complications or even death.
