Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

About pulmonology

Sufian Hasan has been diagnosed with severe pneumonia along with a thyroglossal cyst, making his condition serious and complex. The pneumonia is causing significant breathing difficulty due to infection in the lungs, while the cyst in the front of his neck has gradually increased in size over time. This combination of conditions has made him weak and more vulnerable to complications. He requires close medical care and proper treatment to control the infection and manage the cyst safely.

Thank you for saving this life!

Background

Sufian Hasan is a gentle and playful 3-year-old boy living in a crowded shelter in Geneva Camp with his parents, where daily life is difficult due to poverty and poor living conditions. His father earns only about 9,500 BDT per month as a daily wage laborer, which barely covers basic needs, leaving the family with no savings to afford his medical treatment. What started as a small, painless swelling in his neck gradually increased over a year, and recently his condition worsened with high fever and severe breathing difficulty, making his situation critical. The family came to know about Helpster Charity through a medical outreach camp organized by Helpster Charity and Al Manar Hospital and sought urgent support. Without proper treatment, his condition could worsen, leading to severe breathing problems, infection, and life-threatening complications, making immediate care essential for his survival.

Medical history

Sufian Hasan, aged 3 years, was admitted to Al-Manar Hospital on 07/04/2026 at 4:19 PM after his condition became serious with fever, cough, severe breathing difficulty, and swelling in the front of his neck. After medical evaluation, he was diagnosed with severe pneumonia with thyroglossal cyst, and doctors started treatment with oxygen, antibiotics, nebulization, antipyretics, and supportive care. He stayed in the hospital for 4 days, where his condition was closely monitored until he became stable and improved. He was discharged on 11/04/2026 at 2:30 PM with medicines, follow-up advice, and a recommendation for further treatment of the cyst after recovery from the acute illness. This treatment was very important for Sufian, and continued support will help him complete his recovery and receive the care he still needs.

Prognosis

The doctor explained that with proper treatment, including oxygen support, antibiotics, and nebulization, Sufian’s lung infection can be controlled, and his breathing will gradually improve. Once his acute condition stabilizes, the planned surgery for the neck cyst will help remove the underlying problem and prevent future complications. With timely and complete care, he has a strong chance of full recovery and returning to a healthy childhood. However, if left untreated, the pneumonia could worsen, leading to severe breathing failure and life-threatening complications. The cyst may also continue to grow, increasing the risk of infection and airway obstruction. Therefore, early treatment and follow-up care are essential to protect his life and long-term health.
