Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

Nur Mohammad, an 8-year-old boy, lives with his parents and extended family of eight in a small, overcrowded shelter in Geneva Bihari Camp, where his father earns only 9,500 BDT per month as a salon worker, which is not enough to support the entire family or cover medical costs. Despite these hardships, Nur is a quiet and gentle child whose health has been seriously affected by pneumonia and a skin infection, leaving him weak and unable to carry out his normal activities. His parents are deeply concerned but cannot afford the cost of treatment due to their financial condition. The family learned about Helpster Charity through a medical outreach camp in their community and sought help. Without timely treatment, his condition may worsen, leading to severe breathing problems, spread of infection, and life-threatening complications, making urgent medical care essential.

Medical history

Nur Mohammad, aged 8 years, was admitted to AL-Manar Hospital Ltd. on 07 April 2026 at 3:49 PM after developing high fever, cough, breathing difficulty, and itching. He was diagnosed with left-sided pneumonia with lung consolidation and scabies and received supportive and conservative treatment in the hospital. During admission, doctors carried out necessary investigations and started medicines and clinical management for his condition. After about three days of treatment, he improved and was discharged on 10 April 2026 with medicines and follow-up advice. The child and his family remain in need of continued care and support for full recovery.

Prognosis

With timely hospitalization, antibiotic therapy, nebulization, and supportive care, Nur Mohammad is expected to recover gradually as the infection in his lungs is controlled and his breathing improves. Proper treatment will help reduce fever, clear lung consolidation, and restore his strength, allowing him to return to normal daily activities. Management of his skin condition will also relieve itching and prevent further discomfort or spread. However, if left untreated, the pneumonia may worsen, leading to severe breathing difficulty, spread of infection, and possible lung damage. This could result in serious complications and may become life-threatening. Therefore, timely and appropriate medical care is essential for his recovery and overall well-being.
