Background
Sajia Akter, an 18-year-old girl, lives with her parents and four siblings in a small overcrowded shelter in Geneva Bihari Camp, where her father earns about 8,500 BDT per month as a van driver, making it difficult to meet daily needs and afford medical care. She is a strong and responsible young woman who helps her family, and she had previously undergone surgery as a Helpster Charity patient. Recently, she developed severe joint pain, neck pain, headaches, and blurred vision, and was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, which now affects her daily life. Her family is deeply worried but cannot bear the cost of ongoing treatment due to financial hardship. They again sought support from Helpster Charity, as without timely care, her condition may worsen, leading to severe disability, chronic pain, and long-term complications.
Medical history
Sajia Akter was admitted to Al-Manar Hospital Ltd. on 07 April 2026 at 1:55 PM with severe joint pain, neck pain, headaches, and blurred vision and was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis with anemia. She received conservative medical treatment under Dr. Momtaz Begum (Rheumatologist), including prescribed oral medications and supportive care during her hospital stay. After close monitoring and initial improvement in her condition, she was discharged on 13 April 2026 with further medication and follow-up instructions. The total hospital stay was about 6 days, during which her symptoms were partially stabilized. She was advised long-term treatment and regular follow-up to manage her condition effectively.
Prognosis
With timely hospitalization, conservative and supportive therapy, and blood transfusion, Sajia Akter’s condition can be stabilized as inflammation is controlled and her strength improves. Treatment will reduce joint pain, improve mobility, and help her return to daily activities. However, if left untreated, rheumatoid arthritis may worsen rapidly, leading to severe joint damage, deformity, and systemic complications. It can also affect vital organs, increasing the risk of serious infections and life-threatening conditions. Therefore, timely medical care is essential for her survival and quality of life.
