Farhan Nur Ali has been diagnosed with nutritional rickets, a condition caused by a deficiency of vitamin D, calcium, or other essential nutrients needed for proper bone development. As a result, his bones have become weak and soft, leading to bowing of both legs and difficulty in walking. He may also experience delayed growth, bone pain, and reduced strength, affecting his daily activities. With proper treatment, including nutritional support and medical care, his condition can improve; however, if left untreated, it may lead to permanent bone deformities and long-term mobility problems.

Background
Farhan Nur Ali is a calm and gentle 3-year-old child living with his parents and grandparents in a small, overcrowded shelter in Geneva Bihari Camp, Dhaka. His father, Md. Ripon, works as a laborer and earns around 9,000 BDT per month, which is only enough to cover basic needs for the family, leaving no ability to afford medical treatment. The family came to know about Helpster Charity through a medical outreach camp organized by Helpster Charity in Geneva Camp, where they sought help for Farhan’s condition. Despite his young age, Farhan has been suffering from difficulty in walking and bowing of both legs, and he remains dependent on his family for daily support. Without proper treatment, his condition may worsen, leading to permanent deformity and difficulty in movement, which could affect his future growth and quality of life.
Medical history
Farhan Nur Ali, aged 3 years, was admitted to AL MANAR Hospital on 07/04/2026 at 12:59 PM with Nutritional Rickets after suffering from bowed legs and difficulty walking. During his hospital stay, he received conservative treatment, including hospitalization, IV fluid support, antibiotics, vitamin D, calcium supplementation, and monitoring under a pediatrician. He remained admitted for about 5 days and was discharged on 12/04/2026 with medicines and advice for follow-up care. After treatment, his condition improved enough for discharge, but he still needs continued medical care for proper recovery and bone growth. The patient and his guardian are grateful for the support that made his treatment possible.
Prognosis
With proper hospitalization, vitamin D supplementation, and supportive care, Farhan Nur Ali has a strong chance of gradual recovery and improvement in bone strength and mobility. The treatment will help correct the nutritional deficiency, reduce bone weakness, and support normal growth, allowing him to walk more comfortably over time. With regular follow-up and proper nutrition, his condition can significantly improve, helping him lead a more active and healthy childhood. However, if left untreated, his bones may become increasingly weak and deformed, leading to permanent bowing of the legs and difficulty in walking. In severe cases, this may result in lifelong disability, affecting his physical development and overall quality of life, and placing a long-term burden on his family.
