Md. Ayan has been diagnosed with adenotonsillar hypertrophy with chronic tonsillitis and recurrent epistaxis, a condition where enlarged tonsils and adenoids cause repeated infections and block the airway. This leads to persistent sore throat, mouth breathing, and difficulty breathing during sleep, along with frequent nosebleeds that can weaken his health. In an overcrowded living environment, these infections can occur more frequently and become more severe. If left untreated, his condition can become life-threatening, as severe airway obstruction and repeated bleeding may lead to breathing failure, significant blood loss, and serious complications affecting his overall health and survival.

Background
Md. Ayan is an 8-year-old boy living in an overcrowded shelter in Geneva Bihari Camp with his father Md. Saber, mother Chanda Akter, his working elder brother Rayhan, and another elder brother who is disabled and fully dependent on the family. His father earns only about 7,500 BDT per month, which is barely enough for daily living, making it impossible for the family to afford his medical treatment. Despite these hardships, Ayan is a cheerful and playful child who studies in Class 2 and dreams of becoming an engineer. The family came to know about Helpster Charity through a medical outreach camp on 07 April 2026 and sought help as they could not manage the treatment costs. Without timely treatment, his condition may worsen, leading to severe bleeding episodes, breathing difficulties, and recurrent infections, which can become life-threatening and seriously affect his future.
Medical history
The patient Md Ayan, aged 8 years, was admitted to Al-Manar Hospital Ltd. on 09 April 2026 with the diagnosis of adenotonsillar hypertrophy with chronic tonsillitis and recurrent epistaxis. He underwent adenotonsillectomy with cauterisation of bleeding vessels as advised by the doctors. After the procedure, his condition gradually improved, and he was discharged on 13 April 2026 with medicines and follow-up advice for continued recovery at home. This treatment was important to relieve his breathing difficulty, throat problems, and repeated nose bleeding. Md Ayan and his guardian expressed sincere gratitude to Helpster Charity for supporting his treatment during this difficult time.
Prognosis
Adenotonsillectomy with cauterization of bleeding vessels under general anesthesia is expected to significantly improve Ayan’s health and daily life. The procedure will remove the enlarged tonsils and control the source of bleeding, helping to stop recurrent nosebleeds and relieve airway obstruction. After treatment, his breathing during sleep will improve, infections will reduce, and he will be able to live more comfortably and actively. However, if left untreated, his condition may worsen, leading to severe breathing difficulty, frequent and heavy nosebleeds, and repeated infections. Over time, this can become life-threatening, increasing the risk of airway blockage, excessive blood loss, and serious complications that may endanger his life.
