Fatima Muhammad is a 17-year-old from a poor household where her parents earn less than 24,000 naira monthly. She assists with domestic chores and is socially active. She enjoys interacting with peers. She is the second child of the family. She is survived by her parent and 5 siblings. Fatima's parent depends on humanitarian support for food and heath care services. Fatima is about to finish her secondary education and aspire to become a health care worker to assist her family and community at large. Her parent heard about Helpster charity through their community leader. She was presented with the complaints of left flank pain and discomfort during urination. Symptoms persisted and worsened over time. She was seen by a Doctor from another facility where her initial diagnosis was made and encouraged her to take a lot of water but symptoms yet persisted. About one month ago, she went back to previous health facility and the Doctor advised for surgery but couldn't afford the cost of treatment. She sought Helpster Charity Foundation assistance. At UMD, diagnosis of kidney stone was confirmed and she was planned for elective surgery pending approval by Helpster charity foundation.

FATIMA,a 17-year-old girl, presented with a history of flank pain,lower back pain, accompanied by vomiting,after thorough evaluation and investigation, she was diagnosed with kidney stone. She underwent successful Nephrolithotomy surgery without immediate complications. Due to the nature of her condition, she was admitted for 3 days for close monitoring and post-operative care. Fatima, recovered well and was discharged home after 3 days, with a follow-up appointment scheduled for 1 week. Currently, she is doing well, has fully recovered, and has resumed her regular activities. We appreciate the timely intervention by Helpster and the UMD Medical team.

Fatima is suffering from Kidney stone which causes intense flank pain and dysuria disrupting daily life; if untreated, they can lead to severe infections, blocked urine flow, and long-term kidney damage. Removal of the kidney stone is the best treatment option at this point due to the size of the stone, which is too large to pass through the urethra. The surgery is expected to have a good prognosis, as Fatima does not have any underlying conditions that could interfere with the procedure.
