Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?
When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background
Khadija Ya’u is a 20 year old young woman from a socioeconomically disadvantaged household with a total monthly family income of less than 25,000 naira. Her family relies on small-scale, unstable sources of income, which are often insufficient to meet basic needs such as adequate nutrition, healthcare, and education. From an early age, Khadija has been actively involved in supporting her family through petty trading and assisting with routine household chores, which makes her more responsible. She has finished her secondary education but couldn't pursue further due to financial constraints. She was presented with a history of progressive abdominal swelling, which was initially insidious in onset and gradually increased in size over time. The swelling is associated with abdominal discomfort, pain and feeling of fullness. Her parent brought her to Helpster charity foundation for treatment. At UMD, she was seen, evaluated and diagnosed with intra-abdominal mass possibly ovarian. Planned for elective exploratory laparotomy to relieve her symptoms and avert potential complications.
