Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?
When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

About emergency care
Waliullah Afif has been diagnosed with a severe traumatic brain injury, including a right parietal depressed skull fracture with hemorrhagic contusion in the brain. This means part of his skull was pushed inward due to the impact, causing bleeding and damage to the brain tissue. He also developed significant swelling in the affected area, which can increase pressure inside the skull and affect brain function. This is a critical condition that requires urgent surgical and medical care to prevent serious complications and protect his neurological development.
Thank you for saving this life!

Background
Waliullah Afif, a 3.5-year-old child, lives with his family in a financially distressed household in Dinajpur, where his father earns only around 11,000 BDT per month as the sole provider, making it difficult to meet daily needs and impossible to afford emergency medical care. He is a cheerful and innocent child, deeply loved by his family, whose life changed suddenly after a serious road traffic accident. He sustained a severe head injury and required urgent neurosurgery to save his life. His parents and other family members were devastated and helpless due to financial constraints. They sought support through Helpster Charity through Helpster volunteer, as without timely treatment, his condition could have led to permanent brain damage, disability, or even death.
Medical history
Wali Ullah Afif was admitted to the hospital on an emergency basis immediately after the road traffic accident and was initially shifted to the ICU for close monitoring due to his critical head injury. After primary stabilization, urgent diagnostic investigations and neuroimaging were performed, which confirmed a right parietal depressed skull fracture with haemorrhagic contusion. Considering the severity of the injury, the child underwent emergency neurosurgical intervention including craniotomy and elevation of the depressed skull fracture along with proper surgical toileting.Following the surgery, he was kept under intensive post-operative care in the ICU with continuous monitoring of vital signs, neurological status, and overall clinical condition. Supportive medical management was provided to prevent complications such as infection, seizures, and increased intracranial pressure. Gradually, his condition started improving with reduced neurological distress, improved consciousness, and stable vital signs.Currently, the child is in a stable recovery phase, showing significant improvement under medical supervision. He is responding well to treatment, and ongoing follow-up care has been advised to ensure full neurological recovery and to prevent any long-term complications.
Prognosis
With timely craniotomy and elevation of the depressed fracture, along with ICU support, Waliullah Afif has a good chance of recovery as pressure on the brain is relieved and further damage is prevented. This treatment helps control bleeding, reduce swelling, and support normal brain function. With proper care and follow-up, he may regain strength and development. However, if left untreated, the injury may lead to severe brain damage, seizures, infection, or even death. Timely surgical care is essential for his survival and future well-being.
