Idris is an 11-year old boy, from a low-income family. His mother is a widow who runs a small home-based business, with a total monthly income of about ₦18,000 naira, which is not enough to cover his medical expenses. Idris enjoys football, drawing, and reading, and dreams of becoming a doctor in the future. The family is requesting financial assistance from Helpster Charity to support his urgent treatment and recovery. Idris Usman, became ill about 3 days before hospital admission with sudden high-grade fever, chills, vomiting, headache, and marked weakness. His condition progressively worsened, and he became very tired, irritable, and less active than usual. At the hospital, he was examined and found to be moderately ill with a very high temperature (39.2°C), fast pulse, and low blood pressure. Blood tests confirmed a diagnosis of Severe malaria caused by Plasmodium falciparum, with a high level of parasites in his blood. He also showed mild anemia and an increased white blood cell count. He is currently hospitalized and receiving treatment.

Idris, an 11-year-old boy, was admitted on 17/04/2026 with severe malaria. He was treated with intravenous artesunate, intravenous fluids, antipyretics, and supportive care while being closely monitored by the medical team. Three days in the hospital, Idris was discharged on 20/04/2026 in good condition. His fever settled, his strength returned, and he recovered fully, allowing him to resume his normal daily activities. Idris presented with severe malaria complicated with anemia and infection. He was admitted for urgent medical treatment to correct the infection, anemia, and malaria. It is very important to avoid further complications such as cerebral malaria and death. PROGNOSIS; This child is receiving prompt treatment and hence has good prognosis with proper management, he is expected to make a full recovery with no residual complications.
