Khushi Akter is a 12-year-old girl living in a camp with her mother Farzana Akter, younger sister Alish Akter, elder brother Mohammad Rakib, and elder sister Khusbo Akter, while her father is not involved in the family. The family survives on daily labor with an income of around 9,000 BDT per month, making it impossible to afford her treatment beyond basic living expenses. Despite her condition, Khushi is a responsible and caring child who helps her mother and remains hopeful for a better life. The family learned about Helpster Charity through a medical outreach camp in Central Camp and sought support as they could not manage her medical costs. Without timely treatment, her condition can become life-threatening, leading to severe breathing obstruction, repeated infections, and the risk of serious complications that may endanger her life.

Khushi Akter was admitted to Al-Manar Hospital on 11 April 2026 with a history of recurrent throat infections and breathing difficulty, where she was diagnosed with adenotonsillitis with bilateral hypertrophy. She underwent a successful tonsillectomy under general anesthesia on 12 April 2026, and her condition improved well after the operation. She was discharged on 13 April 2026 with medications and follow-up advice. Following the treatment, her breathing has improved, and the frequency of throat pain and infections is expected to reduce significantly, helping her return to normal daily life. Khushi and her family expressed heartfelt gratitude to Helpster Charity, its dedicated volunteers, and Al-Manar Hospital for their support and care during this difficult time. They are deeply thankful for the assistance that made her treatment possible and gave her a chance for a healthier future.

Adenotonsillectomy with turbinoplasty under general anesthesia is expected to significantly improve Khushi’s breathing and overall health. After the procedure, the airway obstruction will be relieved, allowing her to breathe normally, sleep better, and experience fewer throat infections and fever episodes. This will help restore her daily activities, improve her energy levels, and support her normal growth and well-being. However, if left untreated, the enlarged tonsils and nasal obstruction may continue to worsen, leading to severe breathing difficulty, disturbed sleep, and repeated infections. Over time, this can become life-threatening, increasing the risk of airway blockage, reduced oxygen levels, and serious complications affecting her overall health.
