Background
Anna, the third of four children, lives with her mother. She enjoys going to school, reading, and assisting her mother with household chores. Anna aspires to become a nurse in the future. Over the past few days, she has been unwell, experiencing symptoms of vomiting and general body malaise.
Medical history
Anna Akinyi started feeling sick three days prior to being brought to the hospital, with signs of vomiting and feeling week throughout the body. Her mother realized that she was not improving as the days went by and brought her to the nearest health facility, Ashburn community Nursing Home, for treatment. She was diagnosed with severe malaria and was put on medication for three days to be monitored. She progressed well
Prognosis
Malaria should be treated promptly with the use of antimalarial drugs. If left untreated, it can lead to severe complications and even death. It can result in organ failure, severe anemia, neurological issues, and in some cases, prove fatal, making early diagnosis and treatment crucial for preventing these life-threatening consequences.
