Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

About emergency care

Md. Touhid Hossain has been diagnosed with acute abdomen along with iron deficiency anemia (IDA), and doctors have advised further evaluation for possible thalassemia. He has been experiencing abdominal pain and swelling, along with poor growth and weakness, which indicate underlying health problems. The anemia suggests a low level of hemoglobin, affecting his energy and overall development. Further evaluation is important to confirm the cause and ensure proper treatment, as these conditions require timely medical care and close monitoring to prevent complications.

Thank you for saving this life!

Background

Md. Touhid Hossain, a 1-year-3-month-old child, lives with his parents, brother, sister, and other family members in a small overcrowded shelter in Geneva Bihari Camp, where his father earns only 8,800 BDT per month as a day laborer, making it difficult to meet basic needs and impossible to afford medical care. He is a fragile and innocent child who has been suffering from poor growth and abdominal swelling since birth, and recently developed severe abdominal pain. His parents are deeply worried but cannot bear the cost of treatment due to financial hardship. They learned about Helpster Charity through a medical outreach camp and sought help. Without timely treatment, his condition may worsen, leading to serious complications, weakness, and life-threatening risks affecting his growth and survival.

Medical history

Md. Touhid Hossain, aged 1 year 3 months, was admitted to Al-Manar Hospital on 12 April 2026 at 2:41 PM with the diagnosis of Acute Abdomen with Iron Deficiency Anemia (IDA). During his hospital stay, he received conservative treatment, including hospitalization, supportive care, antibiotics, and medicines to manage his abdominal condition and related weakness. Doctors also advised further investigations because of his poor growth, abdominal distension, and anemia. After about 5 days of treatment, he showed improvement and was discharged on 17 April 2026 with medicines, diet advice, and follow-up instructions for continued recovery at home. The child and his family remain in need of ongoing medical and nutritional support to help ensure a safe and complete recovery.

Prognosis

With timely hospitalization, supportive treatment, and close monitoring, Md. Touhid Hossain has a good chance of improvement as his abdominal pain is managed and anemia is corrected. Proper care will support his growth and help identify the underlying cause for further treatment. However, if left untreated, his condition may worsen, leading to severe anemia, persistent abdominal problems, and poor development. This can result in serious complications and may become life-threatening. Therefore, timely medical care is essential for his recovery and well-being.
