Abigael is a 3-year-old girl living in a rural area with her family. She is the second-born in a family of three and is a cheerful, playful child who enjoys outdoor games, singing, and imitating her mother’s chores. Her family depends mainly on her mother, who works in customer care at a local hotel earning about 3,000 per month. They live in a three-room mud house with cow dung–smeared floors, have no electricity, and rely on borehole water. Despite these challenges, Abigael shows curiosity and potential for growth. For two days, she had fever with repeated convulsions, poor appetite, and headache. On arrival at the facility, she was very ill with persistent high fever, vomiting, difficulty standing, and severe dehydration with sunken eyes. Due to financial constraints, the family delayed care until the area chief referred them to Bulondo Health Centre and informed that they would get assistance to pay for medical bills from Helpster Charity.

Abigael was taken to Bulondo Health Centre in a critical condition diagnosed with severe malaria complicated by cerebral malaria and severe anaemia. Through the support of Helpster Charity Organization, she was immediately admitted and started on urgent treatment. She received intravenous antimalarial medication to clear the malaria infection, anticonvulsant drugs to control seizures, and supportive care including oxygen therapy, IV fluids, and close monitoring. Her anaemia was also managed through careful medical support and nutritional care to help restore her blood levels. During her hospital stay, Abigael gradually responded well to treatment. Her fever reduced, convulsions stopped, and she slowly regained alertness and strength as the infection was controlled. After completing the treatment, Abigael recovered and was discharged in a stable condition. Her family expressed heartfelt appreciation to Helpster Charity Organization and Bulondo Health Centre for the timely, free, and lifesaving medical care that helped save their child’s life.

Abigael is critically ill with severe malaria accompanying with febrile convulsions, and severe dehydration, both of which can rapidly become life-threatening. Immediate treatment with antimalarials, fluid replacement, and supportive care is essential. With timely and appropriate management, she is likely to improve. Close monitoring is necessary to prevent complications such as recurrent convulsions or shock. If she responds well, the prognosis is cautiously good.
