Background
Sidratul Muntaha Shifa is a cheerful and curious 10-year-old girl who loves playing with her friends and dreams of becoming a teacher. She lives with her parents, younger sister, baby brother, and grandmother in a camp under fragile living conditions, where her father is the only earning member, working as a hawker with a monthly income of only BDT 6,000, making it impossible for the family to afford the cost of her burn treatment while meeting their daily needs. She sustained 13% burn injuries after her clothes accidentally caught fire while playing, and without timely specialized treatment, she could develop severe wound infections, sepsis, permanent scarring and contractures, long-term disability, or other potentially life-threatening complications. The family learned about Helpster Charity through medical staff, giving them hope when they had no other way to continue her lifesaving treatment. With timely medical care, Shifa has the opportunity to recover, return to school, and continue pursuing her dream of becoming a teacher.
Medical history
Sidratul Muntaha Shifa was admitted on 10.03.2026 with a 13% burn injury. Considering the severity of her condition, she was admitted immediately for prompt treatment. She received appropriate medical management, continuous monitoring, regular wound care, and attentive nursing support throughout her hospital stay. The treatment was successful, and her condition improved steadily without major complications. After making a good recovery, she was discharged in stable and healthy condition on 10.04.2026.
Prognosis
According to the treating doctor, hospitalization with conservative and supportive treatment is essential to control Shifa's pain, prevent infection, promote wound healing, and maintain her fluid and nutritional balance. With timely treatment, her burns are expected to heal gradually, allowing her to regain normal movement, return to school, and continue her daily activities. However, if left untreated, the burn wounds may become severely infected, leading to sepsis, excessive fluid loss, hypovolemic shock, permanent scarring and contractures, severe malnutrition, multiple organ failure, and other potentially life-threatening complications. Early medical care and close monitoring provide the best chance for a full recovery and a healthy future.
