Rejoice Joseph is 14 year old teenager who lives in Gataku Village of Karu, Nasarawa State. She lives with her mother and father and other 3 siblings in a modest family compound in Gataku. Rejoice mother struggles to provide for the family with her little Farm and petty trade while the father works as a farm security. The family income is unstable and less than 40 thousand naira per month from older siblings who engage in menial jobs. Rejoice and all other siblings of school ages are currently not in school. Rejoice is easy going, she loves making hair and she dreams of becoming a nurse if she further her education. Rejoice had recurrent pain around the lower right side of her abdomen. Her parents had tried using traditional treatment to treat her but to no avail. Also, attempt had been made to address the issue at the primary health center where she had been given antibiotics and analgesic to stop the pain. However, few days ago, Rejoice felt a very sharp and excruciating pain in the right part of her stomach again. She was rushed to the PHC in Gataku but nothing could be done. She was then rushed to our facility. Upon investigation, Rejoice was diagnosed with acute appendicitis.

The patient underwent an emergency appendectomy to remove the appendix with general anesthesia. The process was carried out successfully and the life of the patient was preserved.
