Shelton has malaria with Upper Respiratory Tract Infection. Malaria is a potentially life-threatening infectious disease caused by parasites transmitted to humans through the bite of infected female Anopheles mosquitoes. Once inside the human body, the parasites multiply in the liver and then infect red blood cells, causing recurrent cycles of symptoms, including high fever, chills, fatigue, and, in severe cases, organ damage or failure.This stage of the disease is defined by the evidence of vital organ dysfunction.

Background
Shelton is a five month old baby. Three days ago, the mother reports of the child having fevers, vomiting, reduced appetite and cough. She thought that the symptoms would subside but the child got worse by the day; this prompted her to bring the child to the hospital.
Medical history
Three days before arriving at the hospital, Shelton's mother noticed he had developed fevers, vomiting, a decreased appetite, and a cough. Upon reaching the facility, Shelton underwent malaria testing, which returned positive results. Consequently, he was admitted as an inpatient and received medication. Upon improvement, Shelton was discharged to continue his treatment with oral medication at home. A subsequent follow-up visit confirmed Shelton's continued recovery.
Prognosis
Malaria should be treated promptly with the use of antimalarial drugs. If left untreated, it can lead to severe complications and even death. It can result in organ failure, severe anemia, neurological issues, and in some cases, prove fatal, making early diagnosis and treatment crucial for preventing these life-threatening consequences.
