Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?
When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background
Merinne is a 6-year-old girl, the fourth born in a family of five children. She lives with both parents and her siblings in a one-bedroom mud-walled house without electricity. She is a polite and loving child who enjoys music and dreams of becoming a teacher in the future. Her parents are small-scale farmers who rely on farm produce for their livelihood. Her mother reported that Merinne had been unwell for over a week, experiencing fever, vomiting, and refusal to feed. She initially managed the symptoms at home using paracetamol, which temporarily reduced the fever. However, on the day she was rushed to the hospital, Merinne developed two episodes of convulsions, prompting immediate concern. She was quickly attended to in the emergency unit and admitted for treatment. Upon discharge, her mother expressed distress as she was unable to settle the hospital bill. A staff member then informed her about Helpster Charity, and she expressed deep gratitude for the support received.
Medical history
MERINNE WAS TREATED WITH ANTIMALARIALS, ANTIPYRETICS, ANTIBIOTICS AND OTHER DRUGS AS PER MEDICAL REPORT. SHE RESPONDED WELL TO CARE AND MANAGEMENT THAT WAS GIVEN TO HER AND STABILIZED, SHE WAS THEN DISCHARGED HOME, UPON GREAT IMPROVEMENT , ON ORAL MEDICATIONS TO COMPLETE AT HOME.
Prognosis
Merinne’s condition is critical due to severe malaria complicated by sepsis, both of which pose significant risks. Prompt admission, intravenous antimalarials, antibiotics, and supportive care are essential. With timely and appropriate treatment, she has a good chance of recovery. However, close monitoring is required to manage complications such as seizures and prevent long-term effects.
