Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?
When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background
Joseph is a very active boy, both at home and at school. He would like to be a teacher when he grows up. Whenever a teacher is late for a session, he will often be found at the front of the class teaching his fellow classmates. Three days prior to coming to the hospital, Joseph developed a fever, pain in the ears and general body weakness. He reports that the ear pain was unbearable.
Medical history
Joseph was diagnosed with otitis media and received treatment including IV X-pen, IV Gentamycin, ibuprofen tablets (200mg), and Caps Amoxyl. He responded positively to the treatment and was discharged home.
Prognosis
Without intervention, the infection may persist or worsen, causing ongoing pain, discomfort, and hearing loss. In some cases, untreated otitis media can lead to more severe complications, such as the spread of infection to nearby structures like the mastoid bone (mastoiditis) or the development of chronic otitis media, which can lead to long-term hearing problems. In children, chronic ear infections can potentially impact language development and academic performance. Therefore, prompt medical attention and appropriate treatment, often involving antibiotics or surgical interventions, are essential to prevent these complications and ensure optimal ear health.
