Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?
When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

About eyes
Dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR) surgery is a procedure that creates a new drainage pathway for tears when the natural tear duct is blocked. This surgery is typically performed to relieve excessive tearing and discharge caused by a blocked nasolacrimal duct. DCR can be done through an external incision on the side of the nose or endoscopically through the nasal passages.

Background
Sabina Akter Izma is a gentle and cheerful 2-year-old girl who loves playing with her toys and dolls and brings happiness to her family despite their difficult life. She lives with her parents, elder brother Osman Gani, and elderly grandmother in a small tin-made house where her father, Sukkur Ali, struggles to support the family by farming on others’ land and earning only around 8,000 BDT per month, making medical treatment very difficult for them. Since shortly after birth, Sabina has been suffering from a painful eye problem causing continuous discharge, redness, and discomfort, which has gradually worsened and now threatens her vision. After learning about Helpster Charity through a beneficiary, her worried parents sought help for her urgent treatment and care. Without proper treatment, the infection may become more severe and could lead to serious complications and permanent damage to her eyesight.
Medical history
Sabina Akter Izma, a 2-year-old girl, required treatment for a left-eye condition affecting her vision and needed DCR (Dacryocystorhinostomy) surgery to help restore proper tear drainage and improve her visual comfort. She was admitted to the hospital for evaluation and surgical management and underwent DCR surgery on her left eye under General Anesthesia on 19.04.2026, performed by Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain Sk, Chief Consultant of the Hospital. The procedure was completed successfully, and her condition showed improvement following treatment. She was discharged after receiving appropriate post-operative care and monitoring. We are hopeful that Sabina will continue to recover well and be able to see clearly as her healing progresses. We sincerely thank Helpster Charity and Helpster Heroes for their generous support, which helped this young child receive the treatment she needed and move closer to regaining her vision.
Prognosis
According to the expert medical team at Mazharul Haque BNSB Eye Hospital, Chandpur, Sabina urgently requires DCR (Dacryocystorhinostomy) surgery in her left eye within the next month. The procedure will be conducted by Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain, Chief Consultant, and Dr. Rashedur Rahman Talukder, Senior Consultant. With timely treatment, Sabina can recover fully and enjoy a normal childhood without pain or visual limitations. However, if the surgery is delayed or left untreated, Sabina may suffer from recurring infections, increasing pain, and potential long-term damage to her eyesight. The total cost of the treatment is approximately BDT 40,500, which is far beyond the financial capacity of her family.
