Malaria with upper respiratory tract infection. Malaria is a potentially life-threatening infectious disease caused by parasites transmitted to humans through the bite of infected female Anopheles mosquitoes. Once inside the human body, the parasites multiply in the liver and then infect red blood cells, causing recurrent cycles of symptoms, including high fever, chills, fatigue, and, in severe cases, organ damage or failure.This stage of the disease is defined by the evidence of vital organ dysfunction. Upper Respiratory Tract Infections primarily affect the upper part of the respiratory system, which includes the nose, throat, and sometimes the sinuses and ears. Common URTIs include: Common cold, leading to symptoms like a runny or stuffy nose, sore throat, coughing, sneezing, and sometimes a low-grade fever. Sinusitis: Inflammation of the sinus cavities, often associated with nasal congestion, facial pain or pressure, and thick nasal discharge. Pharyngitis (sore throat), or otitis media: an ear infection that can cause ear pain, fluid drainage from the ear, and hearing problems.

Background
Apollo is a 5 year old boy who likes dancing and singing while with other children of his age. As young as he is, he is always dreaming of training a big choir with different musical instruments. Three days ago, he begun to cough and also had a fever and general body weakness. He was brought to the hospital for medical tests and treatment.
Medical history
Apollo was brought to the hospital with complains of cough, fever and general body malaise. The symptoms had lasted for 3 days. He was put on anti-malaria medication and antibiotics as an in-patient. He responded well to treatment and was discharged to go home by the 3rd day to proceed with oral medication at home. He completed the doses at home and is now doing great and fine.
Prognosis
Malaria should be treated promptly with the use of antimalarial drugs. If left untreated, it can lead to severe complications and even death. It can result in organ failure, severe anemia, neurological issues, and in some cases, prove fatal, making early diagnosis and treatment crucial for preventing these life-threatening consequences.
