Background
Md. Somrat Khan is a hardworking and determined 16-year-old student who is currently appearing in his SSC examination and dreams of becoming a government service holder to support his poor family. He lives with his elder brother in a rented house while his father struggles to support the family through farming and his brother earns only a small income as a marketing assistant, making costly hospital treatment impossible for them to afford. For the last month, Somrat had been suffering from high fever, vomiting, and severe pain, which gradually became so serious that he could no longer continue his studies or daily activities normally. After learning about Helpster Charity through volunteer Bablu Abdullah, his worried family sought urgent medical help, where doctors diagnosed him with acute pyelonephritis. Without proper treatment and hospitalization, the severe kidney infection may worsen rapidly and lead to serious complications, kidney damage, severe infection, and life-threatening conditions.
Medical history
Md Somrat Khan was admitted to the hospital on April 11, 2026, with a high fever, vomiting and severe pain at the left flank. Following a medical evaluation, he was diagnosed with Acute Pyelonephritis ( Lt). After receiving six days of treatment, his condition improved significantly, and he was discharged on April 17, 2026, in good health. His elder brother accompanied him during the hospital stay and were present at the time of discharge. His brother expressed sincere gratitude to Helpster, Jamuna Clinic, and Md. Abdullah Miah for their dedicated treatment and support. Somrat Khan was especially thankful for the financial assistance provided by Helpster, which played a crucial role in ensuring timely and proper medical care.
Prognosis
According to the doctors, Md. Somrat Khan urgently requires hospitalization, conservative management, and supportive therapy to control the severe kidney infection and stabilize his condition. With proper medical care, his fever, vomiting, pain, and weakness are expected to improve gradually, helping him recover and return to his studies and normal life. Timely treatment is important to prevent the infection from spreading further and damaging his kidneys. Without proper treatment and close medical observation, acute pyelonephritis may become more severe and lead to kidney damage, severe infection throughout the body, and life-threatening complications.
