Praise is a cheerful and curious 2-year-old girl living in a busy household with five siblings. She is playful and enjoys exploring her surroundings, playing with simple objects, and imitating everyday activities at home. She loves listening to stories and spending time outdoors, showing a natural curiosity about the world around her. Despite limited resources, she remains joyful and resilient, finding happiness in simple moments. She became unwell two days prior, developing difficulty in breathing, chest pain, cough, and high fever. Her condition worsened, with vomiting, headache, and abdominal pain. Her mother initially managed her at home with painkillers, but there was no improvement, prompting her to seek care at Bulondo Health Centre. Following treatment, the mother was unable to clear the hospital bill due to financial challenges. A records officer referred her to a Helpster volunteer, who facilitated support, enabling Praise to receive care and continue her recovery.

Praise, a young child suffering from severe pneumonia and dehydration, was promptly admitted to Bulondo Health Centre, where he received urgent medical care. The treatment process included administration of antibiotics to fight the pneumonia infection, intravenous fluids to correct dehydration, and supportive care to manage breathing difficulties and fever. His condition gradually improved over several days of close monitoring and his mother could not afford the hospital bills, a Helpster volunteer intervened to cover the costs, ensuring that Praise received uninterrupted care. Today, Praise has recovered well, breathing normally and showing renewed energy, and his family is deeply appreciative of the support that allowed him to get proper treatment and regain his health.

Praise’s condition was serious due to severe pneumonia, which posed a risk to her breathing and overall health. Prompt medical treatment, including antibiotics, supportive care, and monitoring, was essential. With timely and appropriate management, her prognosis is generally good, and she is expected to recover fully.
