Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Saheda Gafur-Ibrahim General Hospital

Kalaya, Bauphal, Patuakhali, Bangladesh

Background

Md. Mohammad is a calm and innocent 1-year-old boy who lives with his large family in severe financial hardship. His father, Abu Kalam, works as a daily wage labourer and earns only around 8,000 BDT per month, which is not enough to support the seven-member family, including Mohammad’s three sisters and elderly grandfather Salam Sardar. During a seasonal outbreak in the area, poor hygiene conditions, use of common toilets, and lack of safe drinking water caused Mohammad to develop high fever for many days, making his worried mother rush him to Saheda Gafur Ibrahim General Hospital. After medical tests, doctors diagnosed him with typhoid and admitted him for urgent treatment and close monitoring. Without proper treatment, the infection could become severe and life-threatening for such a young child, but the family is unable to continue the medical expenses and learned about Helpster Charity through local community miking.
