Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

About eyes

Cataract is a clouding of the lens inside the eye, which causes blurry vision and can make it difficult to see clearly. If not treated, cataracts can lead to complete blindness, making it impossible for a person to see anything. This can severely affect daily life, independence, and quality of life, and in some cases, blindness may become permanent if not treated in time.

Background

Omar Faruk is a 9-year-old boy who studies in Class 2 and dreams of becoming educated so that he can support his family in the future. He lives with his parents and elderly grandparents in a small tin-made house, where his father works as a day laborer and earns only around BDT 7,500 per month, barely enough to provide food and other basic necessities. Due to their financial hardship, the family is unable to afford the cost of urgent eye treatment for Omar’s cataract. Despite his vision problems, Omar remains a gentle, hardworking, and hopeful child, but his worsening eyesight has begun to affect his studies, daily activities, and ability to enjoy childhood. Without timely treatment, the cataract may lead to permanent vision loss in his left eye, seriously affecting his education, confidence, and future opportunities. The family learned about Helpster Charity through Nasima Akhter, Counselor at Mazharul Haque BNSB Eye Hospital, and Helpster Volunteer Md. Al Amin.

Prognosis

According to Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain, Chief Consultant at the hospital, Omar urgently requires Cataract Surgery under General Anesthesia with implantation of a Secondary Intraocular Lens to restore vision in his left eye. However, if the treatment is delayed or not provided, Omar may suffer permanent vision impairment, which will greatly limit his educational opportunities and future independence. Your generous contribution can restore Omar’s sight, giving him a chance to continue his education and live a brighter, independent life. The cost of the surgery and follow-up treatment is approximately BDT 40,500, which is far beyond the financial capacity of his family.
