Ibrahim is a 2 year old male child staying with his parents and 3 siblings. The parents are finding it difficult to take care of the family due to lack of money. They stay in a 2 rooms apartment having a pit toilet and there is well in the compound, no access to electricity. Monthly income is 15,000. Ibrahim presented on the 23rd of May in our facility with complaints of fever, cough of 2 days duration, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting everything, sleep disturbances, thirstlessness. On examination, an ill looking, weak child, febrile, anicteric, acyanosed, palor, tachypneic, coughing with flaring, dry lips. Investigations revealed severe malaria, patient is on admission for further treatment. He was properly evaluated when they came due to lack of funds and is seeking for free treatment from Helpster.

Ibrahim a 2 year old presented on the 23rd of May in our facility with complaints of fever, cough of 2 days duration, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting everything, sleep disturbances, thirstlessness. On examination, an ill looking, weak child, febrile, unicteric, acyanosed, palor, tachypneic, coughing with flaring, dry lips. Investigations revealed severe malaria where he was treated with injection antimalarials like artesunate, antibiotics like Ceftriaxone and other supportive care, IV fluid was also given. He was in stable condition thereafter discharged. He is to return for follow up after 1 week. The family are excited with the care and attention from the Hospital team and Helpster team.

Ibrahim presented very sick and was diagnosed with severe malaria, he needs immediate hospital admission and treatment. His treated has already commenced and his condition is slowly improving as he is responding to proper treatment. The prognosis of Severe Malaria depends on how quickly treatment is started for, for Ibrahim, early aggressive antimalarial therapy can lead to recovery, but delayed care will result in severe complications such as cerebral malaria, organ failure, or death.
