Mohammad Sajjad, an 11-month-old male child, has been diagnosed with Severe Pneumonia, a serious infection of the lungs. He presented with cough and runny nose for 6 days, fever for 3 days, and breathing difficulty for 2 days. On examination, he had a high body temperature (102°F), rapid breathing, and abnormal lung sounds (crepitations), indicating infection in the lungs. His oxygen saturation was slightly reduced (SpO₂ 94%), suggesting compromised oxygen intake. This condition is critical in young children and, if not treated promptly, can lead to complications such as sepsis or respiratory failure.

Background
Mohammad Sajjad is a gentle and cheerful 11-month-old baby boy who lives with his parents, elder sister, and brother in a family facing severe financial hardship. His father works as a day laborer and earns only around 8,000 BDT per month, while the family has no permanent home and struggles to meet even their basic needs, making hospital treatment unaffordable. When Sajjad developed severe pneumonia with high fever, cough, and breathing difficulty, his worried parents and siblings watched helplessly as his condition worsened and required urgent medical care. The family came to know about Helpster Charity through volunteer Masud Rana while seeking support for his treatment. Without proper hospitalization, medicines, and close monitoring, his severe pneumonia could lead to serious breathing complications and become life-threatening for such a young child.
Medical history
Mohammad Sajjad, an 11-month-old male child, was admitted to Narayanganj Poly Clinic General Hospital on 22/04/2026 with complaints of cough, fever, and breathing difficulty. After proper clinical assessment and investigations, he was diagnosed with Severe Pneumonia. During hospitalization, he was treated with appropriate medications, supportive care, oxygen therapy as needed, and close monitoring of vital signs. Under continuous medical supervision, his condition gradually improved. After receiving treatment for several days, he became clinically stable and was discharged from the hospital on 28/04/2026.
Prognosis
According to the doctors, Mohammad Sajjad has a good chance of recovery if he continues receiving proper hospitalization, antibiotic therapy, nebulization, and other supportive treatment. These treatments will help control the lung infection, improve his breathing, reduce fever and cough, and restore his strength and overall health. Close monitoring is especially important because severe pneumonia can worsen quickly in infants and may affect the body's oxygen supply. However, if left untreated, the infection could spread further in the lungs, causing severe breathing difficulty, low oxygen levels, and other life-threatening complications. Timely medical care is therefore essential to ensure his healthy recovery and normal growth.
