Akhay Prodhan is a calm and gentle one-month-old baby boy who living with family despite their extreme poverty. His father, Sudinna Prodhan, works as a fisherman and earns only around 9,000 BDT per month while supporting six family members, including children from his previous marriage, making it impossible to afford costly eye treatment and follow-up care for the newborn. Shortly after birth, Akhay developed severe health complications, required oxygen support and treatment for jaundice, and later doctors discovered a dangerous eye disease that now threatens his eyesight, leaving his parents terrified about his future. After learning about Helpster Charity through counselor Nasima Akhter and volunteer Md Al Amin, the family sought urgent support for his lifesaving eye treatment. Without immediate anti-VEGF treatment and proper medical care, Akhay may suffer permanent vision loss and lifelong blindness.

Akhay Prodhan, a 1-month-old baby boy, required urgent eye treatment to protect his developing vision from a serious retinal condition that could threaten his sight if left untreated. After careful examination, he received Anti-VEGF treatment on 14.05.2026 under the supervision of the hospital’s eye specialist. The treatment was carefully administered, and he was closely monitored to ensure a safe and effective response. Akhay responded positively to the treatment, with encouraging signs in his retinal condition during follow-up assessment. Doctors are hopeful that timely treatment and regular monitoring will help preserve his vision and support healthy visual development. He was discharged in stable condition with advice for continued eye examinations and follow-up care. According to Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain Sheikh and Dr. Md Saiful Islam, Akhay urgently requires Avastin injections in both eyes. The doctors explain that timely treatment can stop the abnormal blood vessel growth and significantly improve the chance of preserving his vision. With proper injections and follow-up care, Akhay may develop useful eyesight and live a normal life. However, if treatment is delayed or unavailable, the retinal damage could become permanent, leading to blindness and lifelong disability. This would place an even heavier burden on his already struggling family.
