Typhoid fever is a life-threatening illness caused by the Salmonella typhi bacteria, typically spread through contaminated food or water. It can lead to serious complications, including intestinal perforation, gastrointestinal hemorrhage, seizures, meningitis, and myocarditis.

Background
Md. Hafij is a calm and intelligent 5-year-old boy who loves playing cricket and dreams of becoming a teacher one day. He lives with his parents and little sister Sidratul Muntaha in a fragile camp house where his father, Rayhan Ali, struggles to support the family by working as a tailor and earning only around 6,000 BDT per month, making medical treatment very difficult for them. Hafij became seriously ill with continuous fever, vomiting, weakness, stomach problems, loose stools, and loss of appetite, which left him unable to play or eat properly and caused deep worry for his family. After learning about Helpster Charity through volunteer Shahid Afridi, his parents brought him to New Evercare Hospital for treatment. Without proper treatment, the typhoid infection may become more severe and cause dangerous complications, severe weakness, dehydration, and serious risk to his health.
Medical history
Md. Hafij was admitted on 08.04.2026 with a diagnosis of typhoid fever. Upon admission, he was placed under close medical observation and started on appropriate antibiotic therapy along with supportive treatment, including intravenous fluids, fever control, and nutritional support. Regular monitoring was maintained to assess his response to treatment and ensure early detection of any complications. With proper medical management and attentive nursing care, his condition gradually improved. His fever subsided, general weakness reduced, and appetite returned steadily. He responded well to the antibiotics and supportive care, showing continuous progress during his hospital stay. As his condition became stable and satisfactory, he was discharged on 12.04.2026 in a safe and improved condition.
Prognosis
The doctor has recommended immediate hospital admission for Md. Hafij so he can receive proper medicine, antibiotic, and other supportive care. With timely treatment, his weakness will improve, and he will have a strong chance of making a full recovery. Supportive therapy will help his body regain strength and prevent further complications. However, if left untreated, serious complications such as intestinal perforation, gastrointestinal hemorrhage, seizures, meningitis, and myocarditis may occur. Without urgent care, this condition could become life-threatening for such a young child.
